Prague

The city, adoptive home to Mozart who favoured it over Salzburg and premiered Don Giovanni at the Nostitz Theatre (now Theatre of the Estates), is a delight.

Prague is a city of music with many rich offerings ranging from chamber music, opera, symphony and more contemporary genres.

The State Opera House is a grand building from the days of Empire with an interior full of grandeur and history. The venue is an 1880’s gem. The interior decoration, full of busts of famous Czech composers alongside beautiful mural paintings and chandeliers. This is a classic European Opera house with tiers of balconies covered in gilt.

The building itself is quite attractive and may strike you as familiar. It is a typical late nineteenth-century opera house, designed by Viennese architects Ferdinand Fellner and Hermann Helmer. Both, well known for their famous theater and opera house designs in many of the major cities throughout central and eastern Europe, such as Budapest, Hamburg, Zürich and Vienna to name just a few.

Now is the time to Explore this cosmopolitan city with its narrow streets, shopping boulevards, exquisite architecture and fine dining and all coupled with a fantastic schedule of performances.
